Embraer, the Brazilian aerospace company, has announced its participation in the United Airlines Ventures (UAV) Sustainable Flight Fund, an investment initiative aimed at advancing Sustainable Aviation Fuels (SAF) by supporting innovative startups. The fund, launched in February 2023, has now grown to include 22 corporate partners, committing over $200 million in capital to invest in startups dedicated to decarbonizing the air travel ecosystem.
The availability of Sustainable Aviation Fuels plays a crucial role in achieving aviation sustainability, as these fuels can reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions by up to 80% compared to conventional jet fuel. Enhancing SAF availability is a key target for Embraer, as it works toward achieving carbon-neutral operations by 2040.
