Airbus with the inaugural NH90 Sea Tiger, destined for the German Bundeswehr, has successfully completed its maiden flight at Airbus Helicopters’ facility in Donauwörth, Germany. This achievement aligns with the German Navy’s order of 31 NH90 Sea Tiger multi-role frigate helicopters for shipborne operations, a contract finalized in 2020.

The NH90 Sea Tiger helicopters are set to replace the German Navy’s aging Mk88A Sea Lynx fleet, which has been in service since 1981. The Bundeswehr has already integrated 18 NH90 Sea Lion naval transport helicopters, delivered on schedule between 2019 and 2023. The Sea Tiger represents the latest version of the proven NH90 NFH (Naval Version), tailor-made to meet the advanced anti-submarine warfare requirements of the German Navy.
