Boeing has initiated the construction of a new facility that will serve as an Advanced Coatings Center for the post-assembly phases of future military aircraft production. This state-of-the-art facility will be operated by Phantom Works, Boeing Defense, Space & Security’s proprietary research, development, and prototyping division. With a total area of 47,500 square feet, the construction phase of the facility is currently underway, and it is expected to become operational by 2025.
The establishment of the Advanced Coatings Center is part of Boeing’s substantial investment in new facilities within its defense business. This investment aims not only to secure future franchise programs but, more importantly, to enable the United States to maintain a competitive edge against increasingly capable and aggressive adversaries. Steve Nordlund, Vice President and General Manager of Air Dominance and Senior Site Executive in St. Louis, emphasized the importance of this investment.
