Embraer has announced that SKS Airways, a Malaysian charter airline, has chosen the Embraer E195-E2 as the key aircraft to drive its expansion plans in the region. The deal for 10 E195-E2s was announced during the Langkawi International Maritime & Aerospace Exhibition (LIMA’23) at a signing ceremony. The E195-E2s will be based at Subang, Kuala Lumpur’s city airport, starting from 2024. With a range of 2,600 nautical miles, equivalent to approximately seven hours of flight, these aircraft will be configured to provide optimum comfort with 136 seats.
This strategic agreement with SKS Airways establishes them as the first operator of the E195-E2 in the Southeast Asian region, expanding Embraer’s presence in the broader Asia Pacific market, which currently counts close to 200 E-Jets. The lease agreement between SKS Airways and Azorra, a leasing company, was witnessed by notable figures including the Yang di-Pertuan Agong of Malaysia, His Majesty Sultan Abdullah ibni Sultan Ahmad Shah, Minister of Transport YB Tuan Loke Siew Fook, and the Ambassador of Brazil to Malaysia H.E. Ary Norton de Murat Quintella.
