Saab has announced that the Brazilian Air Force (FAB) pilots have successfully completed the Delta Conversion Training at the Swedish Air Force’s Gripen Centre in Såtenäs, Sweden. This training marks an important milestone in the deployment of the F-39 Gripen in the 1st Air Defense Group (1st GDA) of the Brazilian Air Force. The successful completion of the Delta Conversion Training signifies another step forward in the bilateral program between Sweden and Brazil, facilitating technology transfer and strengthening the cooperation between the two countries’ air forces. The Gripen fighter jet will play a crucial role in enhancing the Brazilian Air Force’s operational capabilities.
The training, conducted by the Swedish Air Force’s Phoenix Squadron, consists of two stages. The Conversion Training, lasting 11 weeks with 50 flights per pilot, focuses on the basic operation of the Gripen fighter jet, including solo and formation missions during day and night periods. The Combat Readiness Training, which spans approximately nine weeks with 25 flights, further develops the pilots’ air-to-air combat capabilities, including the use of missiles, cannons, and the human-machine interface unique to the Gripen.
