29 April 2020: In a remarkable feat, Worldwide Flight Services (WFS) in the UK have offloaded shipments of essential medical cargo of flights from China, Saudi Arabia, UAE and Jordan and despatched to the National Health Service (NHS) frontline within just two hours of landing. Over the last few weeks they have handled over 100 tonnes of newly arrived medical supplies on-board cargo-only flights at Heathrow and Gatwick airports.

Paul Carmody, Managing Director, UK Cargo at WFS said, "Given how the global air cargo market has changed since the outbreak of coronavirus, I especially want to recognise the application and positively shown by our UK team to ensure we apply all of our safety, security and handling skills to process these urgent shipments in such short timescales. That's a great tribute to the teamwork being shown by our warehouse, ramp transport and clerical teams during this challenging period and their commitment to making a positive difference to reducing the impact of Covid-19. I am confident this will continue as we prepare for more medical and commercial cargo flights to the UK in the coming days."
