China Airlines confirms purchase Order for Up to 24 Boeing 787 Dreamliners

China Airlines has announced that the airline has finalized an order with Boeing for up to 24 787 Dreamliner jets. The deal includes a firm order for 16 of the longest-range Boeing 787-9 with options for eight additional jets, a landmark purchase that will enable the airline to meet its long-term sustainability goals. The deal is a part of China Airlines’ agenda where the carrier aims to invest in the fuel-efficient widebody to expand passenger and cargo operations. The Boeing Company is an American multinational corporation that designs, manufactures, and sells airplanes.

The 787-9 is the best-selling model of the Dreamliner family. The new purchase will allow China Airlines to operate with the lowest trip cost among medium-sized widebodies meanwhile will also reduce fuel use and emissions by up to 25% compared to the airplanes it replaces. Since entering service in 2011, the 787 family’s fuel efficiency, flexibility and range have enabled airlines around the globe to open more than 325 new nonstop routes and reduce carbon emissions by 80 billion pounds.
