Embraer S.A. has joined hands with L3Harris Technologies to develop an “Agile Tanker,” a tactical aerial refueling option for the U.S. Air Force. This new development intends to address the operational imperatives of the U.S. Air Force and its joint force refueling requirements conducted especially for contested logistics environments. The two companies signed an agreement to expand the capabilities of Embraer’s KC-390 Millennium tactical tanker aircraft.
Enhancements in the KC-390 Millennium tactical tanker aircraft include the addition of advanced boom operations and mission systems. These enhancements will support the agile basing and sustainment for operations in contested areas, and resilient communications supporting JADC2 requirements.
