Rex’s 737NG Simulator receives CASA approval

Rex, Australia’s largest independent regional and domestic airline, has announced that its Boeing 737NG Full Flight Simulator (FFS) has received certification from the Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA) and is now operational. The Level D FFS, which can be configured for 737-700 and 737-800 variants, has also been approved for Upset Prevention and Recovery Training (UPRT), enhancing safety measures for pilots. Originally housed at Ansett Aviation Training (AAT) facilities in Brisbane, the Rex FFS underwent relocation and refurbishment after AAT refused to extend the lease term in 2023. Despite the challenges, Rex chose to construct its own purpose-built simulator center next to its Head Office at Mascot, Sydney, instead of succumbing to coercion.

Rex operates a diverse fleet consisting of Saab 340 and Boeing 737-800NG aircraft, serving 56 destinations across all states in Australia. In addition to its airline operations, Rex Group includes several wholly-owned subsidiaries, such as Pel-Air Aviation (air freight, aeromedical, and charter operator), the Australian Airline Pilot Academy with campuses in Wagga Wagga and Ballarat, and Australian Aerospace Propeller Maintenance, a propeller maintenance organization. Furthermore, Rex holds a 50% stake in National Jet Express (NJE), a premier Fly-In-Fly-Out (FIFO), charter, and freight operator.
