Bell Textron Inc., a subsidiary of Textron Inc, has commenced the Structural Improvement Electrical Power Upgrade (SIEPU) modification program for the Bell AH-1Z Viper helicopter, marking a significant milestone in enhancing the aircraft’s mission capabilities. Under a contract with the U.S. Marine Corps, Bell Textron will provide the SIEPU modifications, aimed at optimizing the aircraft’s electrical power capacity, improving aircrew safety, and enhancing interoperability.
The first Bell AH-1Z Viper designated for the SIEPU modification has arrived at Bell’s Amarillo Assembly Center, signaling the beginning of a new chapter for domestic H-1 helicopters. The SIEPU modifications come on the heels of the completion of the U.S. Marine Corps Program of Record in November 2022, reflecting Bell’s ongoing commitment to supporting the operational needs of the Marine Corps.
