ATR and TARMAC Aerosave, on Global Recycling Day, announced the partnership for enhancing the dismantling and recycling of end-of-life ATR aircraft. The agreement outlines the continuation of the recycling process for used ATRs, with plans to recycle up to 12 aircraft in the coming years as part of this collaborative effort. In 2023, TARMAC Aerosave successfully recycled three ATR aircraft, achieving an impressive 85.5% rate of parts reuse or recycling, up from 85% previously. Building on this momentum, the partnership aims to dismantle four ATR aircraft this year and is actively exploring new recycling processes to further increase the recyclable parts in the future.
Under the agreement, all reusable airframe and OEM parts will undergo meticulous inspection, repair, and certification to EASA Form 1 airworthiness standards before being integrated into ATR’s spares warehouses. Parts deemed unusable will be disassembled for the recycling of their raw materials, contributing to a more sustainable approach to aircraft disposal.
