Collins Aerospace step forward at community service:
25 May 2020: Collins Aerospace and Discovery Centre in collaboration has created a five week learning program 'STEM', an interactive learning resource for children without the need for a computer or other digital device providing opportunities for children and their families to explore science, technology, engineering and math. The best part is they can do so without the need of a computer or a digital device.
As per the learning module, a different theme is provided each week like space, aerodynamics, balance, optical illusions, and rotation, all with engaging activities. Rock River Valley's Mobile Lunch program delivered the kits to about 150 families at six sites.
Thanking Collins for all the help, Dr. Ehren Jarrett, superintendent of Rockford Public Schools said, "These interactive STEM kits will help our families continue to encourage students' curiosity at home, and especially focus on STEM skills. Our community partners have stepped up during this unprecedented school closure, and we truly appreciate their continued support."
Acknowledging the praise Eric Cunningham, executive director, Electric Power Systems at Collins Aerospace commented, "We are proud to support this unique Discovery Centre program to help Rockford students continue to learn and develop during these challenging times. While we are all adapting to significant change, one thing that remains the same is Collins Aerospace's commitment to investing in our Rockford community."
The content of the kits, assembly and delivery is carried out by the discovery staff while the funding is supported by Collins Aerospace.
