‘Celebi Technical Maintenance’ first Gold LEED-Certified building at Istanbul:
28 May 2020:In an important milestone, Celebi Technical Maintenance Workshop successfully implemented all necessary requirements for Sustainable and environmentally friendly facility regulations into its Technical Maintenance Workshop Building. It was certified with the Gold Certificate by global green building protocol 'LEED'. With this, Celebi Technical Maintenance Workshop became the first and only Gold LEED-Certified building at Istanbul Airport.
Apart from this, just last month Celebi Cargo Warehouse Building also met the required specifications to be eligible for the Silver LEED certificate.
On receiving this certification Celebi Aviation Global Procurement and Construction Director, Arzu Buyukdurmus Yasa said, "The purpose of this certification is to create green, sustainable and environment-friendly buildings. The construction phase they preferred to use materials with reportedly environmental impacts. Construction waste was separated into 5 different groups and sent to recycling as part of the waste management plan. "
"We also focused on recycling after the construction period and designed our facility accordingly. We distributed Recycling bins for everyone to participate in transporting waste to the Recycling Facilities, within the scope of the Waste Management Plan. We also preferred cooling and air conditioning equipment that makes the least impact on global warming and the ozone hole as part of the energy conservation. In addition, by choosing facade elements with low coefficient of heat transmission and high efficiency pumps & fans, we saved 29 per cent and 32 per cent energy in our workshop and warehouse buildings respectively.'' Mrs. Yasa further added.
