11 May 2020: Flitetec's MX14 Aero antibacterial cleaner has won new certification for its power to wipe out potentially deadly bacteria. Scientists at the US Government registered Kappa Laboratories Inc in Florida rated the solution as 99.99 per cent effective within 30 seconds of use. It meets all international standards and regulatory requirements.
This solution is being offered to airlines and MROs as an attempt to lift aviation sector in the fight against COVID-19.
Flitetec managing director Trevor Lea said, "MX14 Aero not only offers vast cost savings at a challenging time for aviation but it also delivers considerable added value through its antibacterial qualities. It significantly outperformed expectations in latest scientific assessments at the respected Kappa Laboratories, further confirming its ability to eliminate potential deadly strains of bacteria. MX14 Aero is also effective decontaminating surfaces of Covid-19 and complies with stringent regulations and rigorous aerospace specifications so operators can use it with confidence both for maintenance and for any deep cleans of aircraft before they return to service."
He further said, "We would be very pleased to make MX14 Aero samples available on a trial basis for airlines and MRO operators to help them adapt to new realities facing the aviation industry."
Dr Kmieck of Kappa laboratories states in his report, "The MX14 Aero Concentrate appeared to be consistently effective in exerting Bactericidal Activity with a greater than 99.99 per cent reduction against staphylococcus aureus, E.coli, Listeria monocytogenes and salmonella typhi within 30 seconds of contact. Bacteriocidal activity appeared to be equally effective against Gram Positive targets (staphylococcus aureus and Listeria monocytogenes) and Gram Negative targets (E.coli and salmonella typhi).
The MX14 is a made from natural products and is a water-based antibacterial cleaner initially developed to remove ink and stain marks from leather and soft furnishings. It can reduce any odour after application and also be used on interior parts including plastics in galleys, seats and WCs.
