Marshall Advanced Composites produced 10,000 face masks for local hospitals:
28 May 2020: Marshall Advanced Composites, company specialising in composite structures for the military, have made about 10,000 face masks for the local health care workers to ensure that they have essential equipment they need in the fight against COVID-19 pandemic. The masks have been distributed to two dozen care homes and hospitals in and around Pickering, Malton, York, Scarborough and Helmsley. They brought special foam and plastic and made use of bespoke tooling equipment, which is a composite cloth-cutting machine to make face masks.
General Manager, Carl Morse said, "Our company values include 'protecting people in critical situations' and what better embodiment of those values than to produce this vital protective equipment for those who are doing so much to help the local community."
Marshall Advanced Composites continued their work in the lockdown period as a part of essential services to support their military customers. The teams followed strict guidelines and social distancing measures while working.
"We'd delighted to support our workforce and the local community where we have the capacity. We can never thank our carers enough for the selfless contributions they make every day at this time and we're happy to be able to help by providing these masks," Morse further added.
Apart from providing face masks, they are also being deployed around the world in the fight against the pandemic, including medevac, transporting vital medical supplies and supporting remote communities. Besides specialising in cockpit panels for the C-130 Hercules heavy airlifter aircraft which are used by the RAF and other air forces globally they also produce propulsor ducts and rudders for the Astute class submarine for the UK MOD.
