Phillips 66 progresses in production of component for SAF

Phillips 66 has reached a significant milestone in its ongoing conversion of the San Francisco refinery into the Rodeo Renewable Energy Complex, marking a major step forward in the production of renewable diesel on a commercial scale. The Rodeo Renewed project has made substantial progress, with the facility now exclusively processing renewable feedstocks and churning out approximately 30,000 barrels per day of renewable diesel. This development positions the Rodeo Renewable Energy Complex to ramp up production rates to over 800 million gallons per year (equivalent to 50,000 barrels per day) of renewable fuels by the conclusion of the second quarter, firmly establishing Phillips 66 as a frontrunner in the realm of renewable fuels.

Moreover, the Rodeo Renewed project has been designed to enable the production of renewable jet fuel, a crucial component of sustainable aviation fuel (SAF). This capability is expected to come online in the second quarter of 2024, further solidifying Phillips 66’s position as a leader in the renewable fuels market.
