HAL conducts first flight test of LCA Mk1A fighter jet

Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) marked a significant milestone as the first Aircraft LA5033 of the Tejas Mk1A Aircraft series took to the skies from the HAL facility in Bengaluru. The successful sortie, with a flying time of 18 minutes, represents a remarkable achievement for HAL amidst major supply chain challenges in the global geopolitical environment following the contract signature in February 2021. The aircraft’s maiden flight was piloted by Chief Test Pilot, Gp Capt K K Venugopal (Retd.), showcasing the expertise and skill of HAL’s flight crew. Their proficiency ensured a smooth and successful flight, setting a positive tone for the Tejas Mk1A program’s future endeavors.



HAL expressed gratitude to various stakeholders, including the Ministry of Defence (MoD), Indian Air Force (IAF), Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO)/Aeronautical Development Agency (ADA), Centre for Military Airworthiness and Certification (CEMILAC), Directorate General of Aeronautical Quality Assurance (DGAQA), and Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs). The collective efforts of these entities have played a vital role in the success of the Tejas Mk1A program, highlighting the collaborative approach adopted in the Indian aerospace industry.
