Lilium N.V., a pioneer in the development of all-electric vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) jets, has announced the reception of the first set of standby flight instruments from Garmin, a renowned provider of avionics solutions. This milestone follows the multi-year supplier contract inked by Lilium and Garmin in 2023 and marks a significant step in the integration of advanced safety features into the Lilium Jet, which is currently in production, along with the flight simulator crucial for pilot training.
Standby instrumentation in aviation serves as a backup display system in case of primary cockpit instrumentation failure. The standby flight instruments provided by Garmin represent a crucial safety feature for the Lilium Jet, enhancing overall safety for both crew and passengers. This redundancy is pivotal in Lilium’s pursuit of dual type-certification from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and the European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA).
