7 March, 2019: The 14th international conference and exhibition MRO Russia & CIS, which brought together over 80 companies from more than 25 countries, was held in Moscow. This year over 1,200 participants attended the event. Two plenary sessions and seven practical sessions were held within two days. Participants of the conference discussed the most current trends and issues of the MRO market in Russia and the CIS.

The key topics of the parallel practical sessions included aircraft engines MRO, work with aircraft components, implementation of digital technologies in aircraft maintenance, and the organization of after-sales service of the new Russian aircraft.

During the session on staff training, the participants discussed professional development and adaptation of staff performance to the business requirements.

Gerrit Rexhausen, Program Manager for Corporate Innovation at Lufthansa Technik, shared the company’s experience in implementation of industry 4.0 technologies including Internet of things (IoT), the use of robotic systems and VR. Mr. Rexhausen noted that innovations are primarily aimed at improving the efficiency of aircraft maintenance and are designed to facilitate the work of people, but not to replace it.

Alexey Ivanov, sales Director at Magnetic MRO, presented a case study on using biometric signatures. This technology allows reducing risks of data loss, increasing transparency of maintenance processes, reducing time expenditures as well as increasing productivity of technicians. Another technology is the use of radio tags on the MRO equipment, which is designed to increase control over the maintenance process.

An active discussion took place at the session on the transfer of aircraft to the Russian registry. Representatives of the Russian Federal Air Transport Agency and the Ministry of Transport of Russia shared their initiatives in this direction and discussed what would the operator experience with the transfer of aircraft into the Russian registry.

A special networking zone and a demo zone for products and services’ presentations were launched at the event to enhance business cooperation opportunities.
