7 March, 2019: Dare County MedFlight, a provider of aeromedical transport services in North Carolina is all set to retrofit its helicopter to the new 5-bladed version. The aircraft will be equipped with the 5-bladed rotor system following certification which is planned for early 2020. The company will be the first Airbus customer in North America who has decided to get its H145 helicopter upgraded.

The air medical operator, Dare County has been an Airbus customer for more than 30 years. They started began flying Airbus products with the BK117 for air medical missions.

The new H145 light twin-engine helicopter is a five-bladed bearingless rotor which delivers new levels of comfort, simplicity and connectivity. The diameter of the rotor has also been reduced which will allow the H145 to operate in confined areas.

“Airbus continues to implement enhancements on its product lines as our customers’ missions and everyday operating environments grow and evolve,” said Chris Emerson, Airbus Helicopters President and Head of North America Region. “Dare County is yet again launching innovations on the H145 and we are proud to work with them on the first implementation in the North American market of the newest H145 evolution.”
