Embraer develops demonstrator aircraft with electric propulsion technology:

19 August 2019: Embraer has unveiled the images of the demonstrator aircraft on the eve of its 50th anniversary. The aircraft has 100 per cent electric propulsion technology and is currently under development.

The prototype has a special paint scheme and is ready to get systems and components.

WEG is manufacturing the aircraft's electric motor and controller at their headquarters in Jaragua do Sul, Santa Catarina, Brazil. It will be a part of the scientific and technological cooperation agreement for joint development of electrification technologies.

Advances on the project consist of the partnership with Parker Aerospace who will be responsible to supply the cooling system for the demonstrator aircraft.

In coming months, the companies' technical teams will continue to test the systems in the labs preparing the integration in the demonstrator aircraft for testing under real operating conditions. The first flight of the prototype is slated for 2020.
