23 August 2019: The Portuguese Government and Embraer signed a contract for the acquisition of five multi-mission airlifters Embraer KC-390. The contract was signed at Embraer's facility in Evora. Services, support and a flight simulator are also included in the contract as part of the process to modernise Portuguese Air Force capabilities to support national Armed Forces operations and increase readiness in missions of public interest. Deliveries are slated to begin in 2023.Portugal is the biggest international partner of the KC-390 programme. The Brazilian National Aviation Agency (ANAC) has given the Civil Certification to KC-390 in 2018 and is now in full serial production.
