Portugal signs contract for five multi-mission airlift KC-390 23 August 2019: The Portuguese Government and Embraer signed a contract for the acquisition of five multi-mission airlifters Embraer KC-390. The contract was signed at Embraer's facility in Evora. Services, support and a flight simulator are also included in the contract as part of the process to modernise Portuguese Air Force capabilities to support national Armed Forces operations and increase readiness in missions of public interest. Deliveries are slated to begin in 2023.

Portugal is the biggest international partner of the KC-390 programme. The Brazilian National Aviation Agency (ANAC) has given the Civil Certification to KC-390 in 2018 and is now in full serial production.

The aircraft has received its Civil Certification from the Brazilian National Aviation Agency (ANAC) in 2018 and is now in full serial production. The aircraft will enter in service by 3rd quarter of 2019 with the Brazilian Air Force (FAB) and follow-on deliveries will take place throughout the year.
