StandardAero, a global leader in aircraft maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO), is considering the formation of a joint venture (JV) in India. This move comes in the wake of Safran’s plans to establish a major MRO facility in Hyderabad by 2025. StandardAero, currently operating in 13 countries with 55 MRO facilities, aims to assess the engine workload at Safran’s proposed facility before finalizing its decision.
French engine manufacturer Safran’s announcement in 2022 regarding the establishment of its largest MRO facility for commercial aircraft engines in Hyderabad has sparked industry interest. The facility, slated to be operational by 2025, is a strategic move considering that major Indian airlines, including Air India and IndiGo, utilize engines manufactured by CFM—a joint venture between Safran and General Electric.
