First C295 for Royal Canadian Air Force makes maiden flight
6 June 2019: The Royal Canadian Air Force's (RCAF) first C295 which was purchased by the Government of Canada from Airbus has completed its maiden flight. The aircraft will be used for the Fixed Wing Search and Rescue Aircraft Replacement (FWSAR) programme.

The aircraft, designated CC-295 for the Canadian customer departed from Seville, Spain and landed back on site one hour and 27 minutes later.

The Airbus received the contract from the Canadian customer in December 2016 for 16 C295 aircraft and all In-Service Support elements which include the training and engineering services, maintenance and support services and the construction of a new training centre in Comox, British Columbia.
