Air France Industries KLM Engineering & Maintenance (AFI KLM E&M) and Philippine Airlines (PAL) have announced a new engine support agreement, solidifying their partnership in the maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) sector. The agreement covers 32 CFM56-5B engines that power PAL’s fleet of Airbus A320ceo aircraft. AFI KLM E&M has been PAL’s MRO partner for several years, previously providing maintenance services for GE90 engines on PAL’s long-haul Boeing 777 aircraft. The expanded collaboration now includes a wide range of work scopes for the CFM56-5Bs, both in-shop and on-site.
The maintenance program encompasses 10 shop visits and 22 Quick Turn operations, some of which will be conducted using the On-Site configuration at PAL’s engineering facilities in Manila. This new agreement strengthens the longstanding relationship between AFI KLM E&M and PAL, which already included engine support for GE90 and CFM56-5B products, as well as Auxiliary Power Unit (APU) support for PAL’s 777 and A330 fleets. Throughout the pandemic, AFI KLM E&M demonstrated its adaptability by providing tailored responses to PAL’s evolving needs during a challenging restructuring phase.
