Airbus has announced that ITA Airways, the newly established Italian airline, has signed a cabin retrofit agreement with Airbus Services to upgrade its fleet of six A350-900 aircraft. The highlight of the retrofit project is the installation of a brand new Premium Economy (PY) class section, enhancing the onboard experience for passengers. The completion of the project and the re-delivery of all six upgraded aircraft are expected to take place by mid-2024.
Under the agreement, Airbus will provide ITA Airways with all the necessary Service Bulletins (SBs), including engineering drawings and cabin kits required for the comprehensive cabin upgrade. Additionally, Airbus will offer technical support and on-site expertise to guide ITA Airways through the implementation process of the new cabin configuration.
