Pratt & Whitney, a business under RTX, has announced the induction of its first Pratt & Whitney GTF engine by Air France Industries KLM Engineering & Maintenance (AFI KLM E&M). AFI KLM E&M joined the Pratt & Whitney GTF MRO (maintenance, repair, and overhaul) network in 2022, offering disassembly, assembly, and testing capabilities for PW1500G model engines used in the Airbus A220 family. Air France had previously selected 60 A220-300 aircraft in 2021, with the option to add up to 60 more, all powered by GTF engines. Currently, the airline operates 24 of these aircraft, with an additional 37 on order.
Over the past four years, the GTF MRO network has seen significant growth, with AFI KLM E&M becoming the 13th active location. AFI KLM E&M is among the distinguished providers in Europe supporting GTF MRO work and will be the third facility in the region to offer full disassembly, assembly, and testing capabilities for the PW1500G engine.
