Lockheed Martin's 360-Degree Pilot Visual System Completes First Flight

Lockheed Martin's 360-Degree Pilot Visual System Completes First Flight:

16 April, 2019: Lockheed Martin's Pilotage Distributed Aperture Sensor (PDAS) system had taken the flight for the first time aboard the Bell Helicopter's V-280 Valor aircraft in a series of flights over Fort Worth, Texas, in March.

PDAS, the multi-functional sensor system generates high-resolution, 360-degree images all around the aircraft to enhance situational awareness for pilots and other users.

The PDAS system had taken complete spherical infrared imagery while operating in a high-speed, tactically relevant flight environment and generated real-time imagery.

PDAS has six infrared sensors which are distributed around the aircraft linked to aircrew helmets and cockpit displays via an open-architecture processor. It is designed specifically for current and future vertical lift aircraft.
