18 March 2020: RUAG MRO International successfully integrated the ADS-B out avionics on flight deck a per EASA mandate. Not just that they also developed a minor modification for the upgrade and replacement of ageing LED lighting. A creditable feat was that the project was completed on time and as per customer specifications. The work was done on the Bombardier Challenger 604 at the RUAG MRO facility in Munich- Oberpfaffenhofen, Germany. "Aircraft availability for continuous and profitable operations is a priority for our customers. We're keen to ensure their aircraft are equipped and ready for a smooth transition on the EASA Mandate 2020 target date," said Christian Karl, Head of Sales Business Jets, RUAG MRO International. "Our one-stop shop approach to aircraft services combines with our team's expertise in Bombardier business aircraft to provide our business jet community with reliable support and the benefits of optimized downtimes." As per the EASA mandate, all aircraft that weigh more than 5 700 kg, or have a max cruise speed greater than 250 knots, will need to be equipped with ADS-B capabilities to be operated in European airspace. Accordingly the project ensured compliance with the ADS-B Out Mandate 2020 and included the installation of state-of-the-art cabin interior LED lighting. The owner also used the downtime to refresh the cabin interior.
