8 February, 2019: Delta Air Lines, a major airline in the US, celebrated the entry of its Airbus A220 aircraft powered by the Pratt & Whitney GTF engines.

Delta Air Lines, Airbus and Pratt & Whitney commemorated the event with a gate celebration at LaGuardia Airport in New York. This occasion has made Delta the first A220 operator in North America.

Delta had ordered 75 firm A220 aircraft with options for up to 50 additional aircraft powered by Pratt & Whitney GTF engines, in April 2016. They ordered 15 more firm aircraft which increased its total firm order to 90 A220 aircraft in January.

Delta had also selected the GTF engine to power its order of 100 firm A321neo aircraft in December 2017 with options for up to 100 additional aircraft.

Furthermore, Delta TechOps had joined Pratt & Whitney's emerging MRO network which supports the GTF engine fleet and Pratt & Whitney customers worldwide.
