Magnetic MRO expands its services, adds 3D FreeScan X7 to its selection of tools
28 February, 2019: Magnetic MRO has expanded its wide range of services by adding Shining 3D FreeScan X7 which is a handheld 3D laser scanner to its selection of tools. The laser was first used on lavatory refurbishments as a part of MAC Aero Interiors’s and TUI Group’s latest cooperation.

FreeScan X7 has a scanning mode which will provide high accuracy and stability and will cover all the depth and thickness measurements. The 3D scanner can be used in a wide range of operating environments and a variety of measured objects. It can reduce the manpower needed for a particular project by improving the time and cost dramatically.

The scanner was first used on a Boeing 767 aircraft in January 2019 as part of the latest partnership between Magnetic MRO’s subsidiary MAC Aero Interiors and travel company TUI.

The two companies have a 4-year contract which will include the production of 20 lavatory units for TUI's Boeing 767-300 fleet, and the scanner will play an integral role in achieving that.

“In our rapidly developing time, working with digital technologies is becoming the norm for the engineering and technical staff of aviation companies. Particularly in the areas where the result of the work directly depends on the accuracy of measurements. Digital images of objects - their parts or surfaces - obtained using 3D scanning and their processing with the use of special software makes it possible to quickly and accurately obtain high-precision technical parameters of these objects, which ultimately makes it possible to correctly assess their condition and further provides the necessary data for their design and manufacture,” said Sergei Dulberg , Structural Engineering Manager, Magnetic MRO. “This new device has great application potential in almost any field, and it allows us to open up new opportunities for our clients.”
