14 February, 2019:Boeing and Safran have named their joint venture as Initium Aerospace. The company will design, build and service Auxiliary Power Units (APUs).

Initium Aerospace will benefit from Boeing's customer and airplane knowledge and Safran's experience in designing and producing complex propulsion systems. After an agreement was reached in June, the joint venture received its regulatory and antitrust approvals in November.

The employees from the two parent companies will be a part of the initial team which will be led by Etienne Boisseau, CEO of Initium Aerospace. All the preliminary work is being done in San Diego, California, where they are focused on designing the next-generation APU. The employees will be working with teams across Boeing and Safran on engineering and production.
